As of July 14, 2021, Madison County Memorial Hospital is restricting entry to the hospital. As of 7PM EST today no visitors are allowed until further notice.
“COVID cases are on the rise, and we don’t want to go backwards, we want to be proactive”, said Dr. Perkins, Chief Medical Officer at the hospital. Dr. Perkins has been working closely with doctors across the United States to follow trends and advise the best course of action to ensure the safety of MCMH’s patients and employees. “As of today, Perry’s positivity cases have risen to 20% and Madison to 14%”, said Dr. Perkins “and therefore we made the decision to restrict entry to the building”.
As of June, the hospital has vaccinated over 2,400 people through its drive through Vaccination Station. On the first of July, the hospital prepared to allow additional people in the building. However, with an upward trend of positive COVID cases specifically in the younger demographic who have not been vaccinated, this strategy made sense.
These two figures depict the COVID trend lines and hot spots being monitored by a research group from the Mayo Clinic and demonstrate the need to restrict entry, continue vaccinating, and ensure our community is following COVID safety guidelines.
